The 2014 'Pink Elephant Award' is being very well received by members of the 'Watchtower Society'.
Members of the Governing Body, Bethel workers and Pioneers doing 'street cart witnessing' have all eagerly embraced the award. Many are displaying it publicly, as they go about their preaching work, saying that 'it shows we are #1.'

This just in:
The International Pink Elephant Committee has just awarded the 'Watchtower Society' the 'PINK ELEPHANT' award for 2014.
The committee's press release stated, in part;
'... usually our ten committee members have to research a number of organizations to determine which one will receive the yearly award. In past years the Watchtower Society has been a close runner-up, but never quite qualified for the top prize. However, this year the committee was unanimous in deciding in favor of the 'Watchtower Society'.
As everyone already knows, the award goes to the organization which best displays the ability to 'ignore the elephant in the middle of the room'. There are a number of criteria to be examined before a winner is announced. The 'Watchtower Society' met these criteria to a higher degree than any other group, business, government or organization. Some of these factors include
- ignoring statements it has made in the past, especially in print. Among these are; discouraging members from having anything to do with the Internet, while in 2014, encouraging as many people as possible to view the jw.org site. This has been promoted with lapel pins, logo's on sign boards, on the sides of buses and in the printed literature. Members that were previously told to, in effect, shun the internet, are now directed to lead people to the Internet site.
- cover-up of cases of children who have been sexually molested by members of the 'Watchtower Society', many times under the cloud of protective silence promoted by the organization. At times, it has even made threats of disfellowshipping and shunning ones who reveal such conduct. Even as evidence is presented to the 'Watchtower Society', it has the ability to act as if the events did not happen.
- the ability to ignore its historical foundations, such as most events and publications from 1874 to 1999, while cherry- picking small clips and quotes from the past, to promote present day teachings....'
In honour of the Pink Elephant Award for 2014, the Pink Elephant logo has been incorporated together with the jw.org logo to create a unique logo that will be used to identify the Watchtower Society from all previous Pink Elephant Award winners. The committee feels it is well deserved, as the 'Watchtower Society' has shown unprecedented ability to,
' IGNORE THE ELEPHANT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM'

exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

At BluesBrothers topic,
Watchtower Study today Jan 4 2015 , Fallacious Reasoning (issue Nov 15 2014),
millie210 made the following comment:
'...One of my favorite things on this forum is when someone dissects the study article on Sunday.
Given that they have a collective brain trust of writers formulating these articles, you are so right, that they ought to do better...'
This brings to light the effectiveness of a collection of people contributing to a subject. " In a multitude of counselors there is much wisdom." Prov 11:14. I understand the argument that this is talking about receiving advice from godly people, however, the principle of using the minds of others to more correctly understand something or to expand a persons knowledge of a subject can also be supported by this proverb. The modern day equivalent would be,' two heads are better than one'.
Therefore, an astute JW could come to this site and ask for assistance in locating a publication or quote from a publication on just about any subject and various members on this site would be more than happy to help them find it. They may add their personal comments, which may cast the society in an unfavourable light, however, the JW could merely ignore their comments and benefit from the research of the contributing members. If i was an active JW, I would be requesting all kinds of information regarding subjects of my studies. I have no doubt that many members would forward worthwhile information to me.
For JW's reading this pay attention. You have your own, free, research department right here.

Suggestions for ways to improve 'jehovahs-witness.com'
by Esse quam videri ini am hesitant to continue on this board.
my main reasons are that not enough content is shown on the screen which means more scrolling, and there is no indication of how many views each posting receives.
this, in my opinion, is critical to keep the postings coming.

I am hesitant to continue on this board. My main reasons are that not enough content is shown on the screen which means more scrolling, and there is no indication of how many views each posting receives. This, in my opinion, is critical to keep the postings coming. Who wants to post a subject that may have required hours researching and preparation to find that only three people post a reply? However, if nine-hundred views are registered, which is not a great number, this would keep the posters motivated to provide further postings.
My suggestions are the following:
1- Decrease the size of the fonts
2- Show the number of views for each posting
